Conferences
Conferences will be held this week on October 19th and 20th. If you have not sent in your preferred conference time yet then you will be given a time that is open. Please check your student's backpack for a form to see your time. If the time you are given does not work, please contact your student's teacher as soon as possible so we can reschedule. We look forward to meeting with you!
Office Hours-Morgan
Mrs. Morgan will not be having office hours on Monday October 10th.
Fundraiser/Homecoming
October 4th will be the final day to turn in money for the fundraiser! September 30, 2016 will be a minimal day for students so please arrange to have your students picked up at 1:10. We will be having a Fun Run Fundraiser that morning. Keep an eye out for more information coming home with your students about how to raise the money and prizes they can win! The Homecoming Parade will also be that day. Students can participate in the parade, and even ride their bikes! There will not, however, be space for bikes during the school day.
No School
There will be no school for students on September 23, 2016!

Homework
Week of August 29, 2016
Unfortunately our homework had a little mishap at the copy machine so the packets got copied in a confusing way. It will be especially important this week to look at the page numbers written in the planner for each day of homework this week to make sure the correct pages are together. To hopefully help clear up some confusion here is the due date schedule for this week:
Monday: The Land of the Northern Lights (pgs 10 and 11)
Tuesday: Modeling Multiplication (pgs 5 and 6)
Wednesday: A Mancala Morning (pgs 12 and 13)
Thursday: Factors and Tea Lights (pgs 7 and 8)
Friday: It's All a Game (pgs 14 and 15)
Typically the reading pages will be front to back, but this week they are next to each other in the packet and a different reading page or question page is on the back. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Office Hours
August 25, 2016
Office hours are a great time for your student to stay a little longer at school to ask questions about homework, get extra help on a topic they are not understanding or just to give them a quiet time and place to read. Both classes will have office hours on Mondays at 3:10-4:10 pm. There is not any transportation provided so your student will need a way to be picked up promptly at 4:10 pm. Typically we reserve our office hour slots for students who really need the extra help so that it can be beneficial and not too crowded. If you have questions about office hours please email us and we will get back to you ASAP. Office hours will begin September 12.
Just Right Books
August 19, 2016
As we are getting into the swing of the school year again we want to make sure your student is reading books at his or her level, we call these books "Just Right Books". We wanted to share with you the process of choosing a Just Right Book so you can help your student do so at home or at the public library. Have your student follow these steps as they look at new books.
Step 1: Open the book to a random page and read.
Just Right Books Should Have:
- 2-4 words you don't know
- You understand mostly what you are reading
- It is enjoyable
- Your reading is mostly smooth, only a few bumps
Back to School
August 15, 2016
Keep an eye out for important paperwork being sent home this first week! Your student should be coming home with a Friday Folder weekly, but this week requires a lot of paperwork that needs to be returned quickly so please check backpacks every day.
You should be receiving two booklets; one yellow, and one purple. These are the Student/Parent Handbook and the Student Behavior Standards. They both have papers inside that need to be signed and returned as quickly as possible.
